Mountain biking

Dolffanog Fawr situated right in the middle of some of the best mountain biking in Europe.   There are two centres close by at Coed y Brenin and Machynlleth.

In Coed y Brenin a new state of the art visitor centre has recently been completed and new mountain biking and walking trails have been developed.   There are a wide range of biking trails from the 8km 'Temtiwr' trail up to the 38km 'Beast of Coed y Brenin' trail and various other trails in between.   There is truly something for everyone including trails on forest roads suitable for normal bikes. Bikes can be hired locally.

There are four trails based around Machynlleth: The mach 1, 2 and 3 trails have been established for several years and explore the open countryside and moorland around the town. The new climachx trail was opened in 2006 and is north of Machynlleth (3 miles from Dolffanog Fawr) and explores the remote Dyfi forest.   These trails vary in distance from 15 to 30 kms and offer some excellent riding in beautiful scenery.

For anybody wanting a serious challenge it is possible to link up with the mountain biking trails at Nant yr Arian near Aberystwyth from the Mach 3 trail.   This would present the ultimate challenge.
